Good fit: Model Y · RAV4 · CR-V · Cherokee · Equinox · Rogue · Forester · CX-5 · Tucson.

Not the right size: Civic, Audi A1 and other small passenger cars. The platform is built to span a full-size bench; in a small car it will overhang. We'd rather tell you now.

The platform with the support plate fitted, headrest buckles, seat anchors, corner straps and the slide belt for the door. No tools needed, about five minutes to fit.

Unclip one end and fold that side over. She steps into the footwell and up the way she always has, then you fold the side back down and re-clip. About a minute extra.

If she's stopped being able to do that at all, the Long-Haul Set includes the ramp.

Four ways, depending on the mess.

Sticky roller for hair between drives. Two passes and it comes up with the roller instead of working into the weave.

Damp cloth for drool, muddy paw prints and spills. Water beads on the surface rather than soaking through, so a wipe is usually the whole job.

Vacuum for crumbs, grit and sand after a day out. Run the upholstery head across it the way you would the rest of the car.

Rinse for the bad days. Lift the support plate out first, then rinse the shell under running water and hang it to dry.

Ships from the United States. Processed in 1 to 3 business days, delivered in 5 to 7. Every order includes the 60-Day Ride Test and a 5-year replacement guarantee.

Owners on the parts that usually break

Real owners, real vehicles

Every cover fails at one joint. These are the joints owners were watching.

German Shepherd on the platform
★★★★★

The zippers are still working

My German Shepherd steps on the side flaps every time he gets in. That killed the zippers on our last cover. These haven't opened, jammed or broken yet, even when he leans his full weight against them.

Pit mix settled on the platform
★★★★★

Nothing comes loose when he moves

My pit mix never sits still at first. He turns around, changes sides and puts a lot of pressure on the panels. The buckles stay tight, the anchors don't pop out, and nothing drops into the footwell.

Platform fitted in an SUV
★★★★★

Big and rigid, but it fits

I was worried the hard bottom would push our front seats forward or leave gaps against the back seat. It fits our SUV without doing either. The platform sits flat and there's still enough room to adjust both front seats.

Vacuuming hair off the surface
★★★★★

The hair actually vacuums off

My old quilted cover trapped hair in every seam and tape was the only thing that worked. This one still gets hairy, obviously, but the vacuum pulls most of it right up. I've also washed it on cold after removing the panels, and the non-slip backing stayed intact.

Golden Retriever lying down on a long drive
★★★★★

He finally lies down on long drives

My Golden used to stand and brace himself through every turn, even on two-hour drives. With this platform he walks around for a few minutes, then lies down. The bottom stays flat under him and doesn't fold when he gets near the edge.

Watch the clock, not the copy

A dog with nothing solid under him stays on his feet

Put him in, drive, and look at minute ten. Still braced at minute ten and the surface is wrong, ours or anybody's.

Drag to compare

How it does all three

Five parts. One job.

Load-bearing platform spanning the footwell Suede-traction textured Oxford surface Seat anchor pushed into the seat gap Sealed zip under a bonded membrane Reinforced PVC filament mesh panel

500 Dual-Tension Platform™

A rigid load-bearing base rated to 500 lbs, carried by a double-tension strap system. It turns the footwell gap into a flat, level floor instead of the sag you get from fabric hung between headrests.

Every joint on the headrest straps is bar-tacked, the doubled stress stitch that stops a seam letting go and dropping him into the footwell.

Owners report the alternative: "the straps snapped right at the plastic buckle while I was on the highway. The whole side collapsed and my dog fell into the footwell."

Traction-Grip P600D Oxford

Heavy-duty P600D Oxford, thick enough to stand up to claws, finished with a suede-traction texture.

His pads grip that texture, so he is not skating across the seat every time you corner or brake.

Owners describe the alternative: "It's slippery and he slides forward every time I brake, so he just stands the whole drive."

Position-Lock Anchoring

Upgraded seat anchors push down into the seat gap, corner straps pull the slack out, and the whole thing locks around the headrests. About five minutes to fit.

It stays flat and square on the bench rather than bunching up under a big dog that keeps changing position.

Owners describe the alternative: "neither one stayed anchored down, both of them have gotten crumpled up and pushed aside."

AquaGuard Liquid & Heat Barrier

The zips are sealed under a PU/TPU membrane, so urine, mud and drool run off the surface instead of finding the zip channel down to your upholstery. A zip is a hole, and most covers don't mention that.

The underside is a heat-resistant grip coating, chosen so it doesn't soften, deform or print onto leather after a day parked in the sun.

Owners report the alternative: "the rubber backing melted in the summer heat and fused to my leather seats. Left black rings that won't come off."

Reinforced PVC Airflow Mesh

The centre panel is woven from PVC filament, far tougher than the fabric mesh most covers use, so it stands up to pawing.

Air from the front reaches him, and he can see you the whole way, which for a lot of dogs is the difference between pacing and settling.

Owners report the alternative: "the zipper on the mesh window broke after just two uses. Now the dog just pushes his head right through the gap."

Cross-section

5-Layer Stability & Protection System™

Exploded cross-section showing the five layers of the platform
  1. 1

    Traction-Grip P600D Oxford

The load-bearing face. Heavy-duty Oxford that stands up to claws, with a suede-traction finish so his pads grip when the car corners or brakes.

  2. 2

    Upper Comfort Cushion

Padding above the plate. It takes the pressure off his joints on the long drives where he is standing or lying for hours.

  3. 3

500 lbs Rigid PP Support Plate

The part that does the work. It spreads his weight across the whole platform and bridges the footwell flat, instead of letting the middle drop away.

  4. 4

    Lower Shock-Absorbing Cushion

Padding below the plate. It softens the knocks of the road and keeps the rigid plate from pressing straight into your upholstery.

  5. 5

    High-Heat Resistant Non-Slip Base

A gripped, heat-resistant underside. It holds position on the bench and protects the seat surface underneath it.

Before anything else

Does it fit your vehicle?

It's built to span a full-size rear bench, including the open gap between two second-row captain chairs. In a small passenger car it will overhang, and we'd rather say so than take the order.

Platform sizing across a full-size rear bench
No tools

Setup, in four steps

Fastening the headrest buckles
1

Buckle the headrests

Fasten the buckles around the front and rear headrest bars. That is what holds the platform at both ends.

Pushing the seat cushion anchor into the rear seat
2

Push in the anchor

Press the seat cushion anchor down into the rear seat, into the crease where the cushion meets the back. This is the piece that stops the platform sliding with him.

Zipping up the side flap
3

Zip the side flaps

Zip up the side flaps so the doors are covered and he has walls either side rather than an open edge.

Fastening the slide belt to the car door
4

Clip it to the door

Fasten the slide belt to the car door and you are done. The back seat is now one flat surface, edge to edge.

Between drives

Four ways to clean it

Pick whichever matches the mess. None of them need a washing machine.

Sticky roller lifting hair off the surface
1

Sticky roller

For hair, between drives. Two passes over the surface and it comes up with the roller instead of working its way into the weave.

Wiping the surface with a damp cloth
2

Damp cloth

For drool, muddy paw prints and spills. Water beads on the surface rather than soaking through, so a wipe is usually the whole job.

Vacuuming crumbs and grit off the platform
3

Vacuum

For crumbs, grit and sand after a day out. Run the upholstery head across it the way you would the rest of the car.

Rinsing the shell under running water
4

Rinse it off

For the bad days. Lift the support plate out first, then rinse the shell under running water and hang it to dry.

Everything else

Your questions, answered

Will it fit my vehicle?

It's built to span a full-size rear bench, so it's a perfect fit in full-size trucks, full-size SUVs, and vehicles with second-row captain chairs. It's a great fit in mid-size trucks, standard SUVs and large sedans, and a good fit in compact SUVs. In a small passenger car it will overhang, and we'd rather say so than take the order.

Dimensions: 53″ across the bench · 30.5″ deep · 22.5″ seat-back panel · 24″ side flaps · 16″ front drop panel · 15″ mesh window.

Not sure? Email us your year, make and model and we'll tell you straight, including when the answer is no.

Does it work over captain chairs without sagging in the middle?

That's the specific span it's built for. Fabric covers droop between captain chairs because they rely on tension alone. There's nothing under the middle. Here the load is carried by the support plate, so the surface between the two chairs stays flat rather than dishing when he stands over it.

Is it actually rigid, and how much weight does it hold?

The core is a rigid PP support plate rated to 500 lbs. What matters more than the number is how the weight travels: the plate spreads it across the whole platform instead of concentrating it on fabric points that tear.

The edge is the real tell. On a hammock, the moment a dog steps near the front edge it drops away and he backs off. This one holds its shape when weight lands there. Two large dogs are fine.

Will my dog slide around on the hard surface?

The plate is firm by design. That's what stops it sagging. But the face he stands on isn't the plate, it's Traction-Grip P600D Oxford with a suede-traction texture, so his pads have something to hold when the car corners or brakes.

Owners describe the alternative: "It's slippery and he slides forward every time I brake, so he just stands the whole drive."

Will it damage leather seats when the car gets hot?

This is the objection almost nobody says out loud and plenty of owners have. The underside is a high-heat-resistant non-slip base, chosen so it doesn't soften, deform or print onto leather after a day parked in the sun.

Can it fold for a passenger, or for a dog who can't jump in?

Both, and it's the same move. Fold one side back and that seat returns to normal, seatbelt included, so a passenger or child seat fits alongside him.

For an older dog, unclip one end and fold that side over. He steps into the footwell and up the way he always has, then you fold it back down and re-clip. About a minute extra.

My back seat doesn't have headrests. Will it work?

No. The headrest buckles are a load-bearing part of the anchoring, not a convenience. Without rear headrests it won't hold position, and we'd rather tell you before you order.

Will it block the rear vents or stop my front seats reclining?

The front straps have enough give for normal seat adjustment, and the centre mesh panel is there so air from the front reaches him. If your vehicle has an unusual vent or headrest layout, send us the make and model and we'll check.

How do I clean it?

Four ways, depending on the mess. A sticky roller for hair between drives. A damp cloth for drool, mud and spills. A vacuum for crumbs, grit and sand. And for the bad days, lift the support plate out and rinse the shell under running water, then hang it to dry.

Does it come with a dog seatbelt?

No. There are restraint systems built and tested specifically for that job, and we'd rather point you at those than bundle in a strap. What this does is remove the footwell drop he'd otherwise slide into.

What if my dog just won't use it?

Then send it back, but test it properly first. A fifteen-minute trip proves nothing. Take him on three long drives. If he still won't lie down, we'll take it back inside 60 days.

We ask for the long drives because that's the only honest test: standing for fifteen minutes is easy for a dog; standing for three hours is what he's been doing.

Why is this more than a $30 cover on Amazon?

Because a $30 cover is a piece of fabric and this is a structural panel, and the two fail at completely different speeds. Most owners who end up here have bought three or four covers already: a hammock, a waterproof one, a mat to stop the sliding on the waterproof one. That's a hundred-plus dollars now sitting in a cupboard, and the dog is still standing.

How long does shipping take?

Ships from the United States. Orders are confirmed and processed in 1 to 3 business days, then delivery takes 5 to 7 business days. You'll get tracking as soon as it leaves.

What does the 5-year guarantee cover?

If it tears, rips or comes apart under normal use inside five years, we replace it. Email your order number and a photo of what failed.

It covers the things that actually fail: the fabric, the zips, the support plate, the straps and the stitching. It does not cover chew damage or misuse, and it applies to orders placed directly with us, not third-party listings.

How does the 60-day trial work?

Take him on three long drives inside 60 days. If he still won't lie down, contact us and we'll take it back.

Email us your order number and we'll send return instructions. No form to argue with, and you don't need to keep the box.
